Eternal Security With John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  John 3:16

Jesus tells Nicodemus he can have eternal life with the most famous verse in the Bible.  Since our Lord is the one who said it we can take it to the bank.  Jesus said it and that settles it.  The reason for this post is to show that once you accept Christ, and believe on him you have eternal security.

The first word that shows we have eternal security is have (a present tense verb) everlasting life which shows eternal security.  The other present tense verb that shows eternal security is believeth (third-person singular simple present indicative form of believe).

After looking at these two words in the most famous verse it is shown by Jesus himself that once you accept and believe on him you have eternal security.  There is no debate on this issue.  We fundamental Christians have a saying “once saved always saved.”  This verse alone proves eternal security.  I’ve been told all kinds of excuses like its a continual belief, or that you have to hold out to the end.  No where in the Word of God do you see this.  In order to believe that argument you have to alter or manipulate God’s Word.  In which all other versions of the Bible except the King James Version do that very thing.

Thank you for taking time to read my  blog.  If you like it please feel free to share it.

Having A Biblical Worldview

bible and magniying glass As Christians, believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.  We have been given the a special gift.  God has given us the ability to see this world as He sees it.  Through his eyes so to speak.  We call this having a “biblical worldview.”  Being we are able to see the world as God sees it we are to view other cultures and religions in like manner.

As Americans we look at others who ever it is, (those who are different) with an American worldview; we see them as different, immoral, violent, or whatever the case and fail to see them as who they are. Lost.

I believe using the Bible as my source that God sees these people as lost sinners in need of a savior.  Now before you decide to make a harsh judgment, remember we could have just as easily been in the same boat if it were not for Christ changing our hearts.  Colossians 1:21-22 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled  In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.”

As believers we cannot look on any other religion as our enemy, but look on them as a mission field to reach for Christ.  The only way we can do this, is by looking at this world as God sees it which is in a biblical worldview.  Remember what we always say “love the sinner, and hate the sin.”  That is what we are supposed to do.  Always use the Bible as your source of authority and not ideology, or man as the standard. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 55:8

Now let’s get busy serving the Lord and fulfilling The Great Commission laid out in Matthew 28:18-20.

Why Are You Going To Church?

Enduring Leagacy     After working in full-time ministry for more than a half decade.  I have met a lot of folks who have visited many different churches.  One consistent theme I see is that folks don’t typically go to church for themselves, or to better themselves in their relationship to God.  This should not be the norm.

The reason we should go and want to go to church is to learn more about God, and how to get closer to God.  God has done so much for us in light of eternity that we should be joyous in attending church.  The fact that God came down to earth and died for our sins should be enough for us to attend our local church.

Unfortunately this is not the case for some folks.  Apparently some folks only go to church for their friends, family, and self promotion.  In each one of these reasons it never fails that for one reason or another those folks never last long in church.  What happens is either their family and/or friend(s) will get offended or hurt.  Then they either drop out or take all those who are kin or friends with those who were hurt or offended with them.  It happens time after time again.

The reasons for going to church are not for others, or to be seen by others.  The reason for going to church is simple and is found in Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”  Attending church is a command from God.  So remember don’t go to church for others, or to be seen by others.  But go for yourself and to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

Social Experimenting Gone Wrong

bible and magniying glass     Social experiments are conducted all the time. We humans tend to conduct social experiments on some of our closes relationships. Relationships are hard work. They take determination, honesty, transparency, love, and a whole lot of stress. But relationships are also rewarding. Relationships can get us through some of the hardest trials in life. Relationships can also be treacherous.

Let’s take the first couple recorded in the Bible, Adam and Eve. Adam instigated the first social experiment. Adam by used his one and only wife Eve to conduct the first social experiment. “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?  And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.” Genesis 3:1-8

Here Adam conducted the first social experiment with Eve and Satan. The problem with social experiments is that you don’t know the outcome. The outcome in this social experiment, is that all of humanity will suffer with sin until the end of the Earth. Adam was right next to Eve when he allowed the serpent (Satan) to have the conversation listed above in Genesis  three. In hindsight, as soon as Adam knew the serpent was in the garden he should have taken care of business with that serpent. Adam should have severed the head of the serpent from it’s body, but he didn’t. Adam’s lack in action caused them to get kicked out of the garden, and it caused them to lose their son Able. But most importantly it cost God His only son Jesus Christ.

The lack of action caused a ripple in which all of humanity has been affected. When we as Christians have a lack of action we cause a ripple in which others will bee affected. When parents leave their children to be babysat in front of the TV, or Xbox, Nintendo, PlayStation, they are conducting a social experiment that may or may not affect that childs life. I believe we as men, Christian men to be exact. Should be so close to God that we should be able to tell when the serpent has came into the garden of our lives, and we should take action. Whether it’s with our wife or children, we need to be ready to fight the foe with the spiritual knowhow from the Bible. Unfortunately that is not the case.

In conclusion, not all social experiments are not bad, just not wise. Fellow Christians, we need to put on the whole armor of God so that we can contend for the faith. So that we can withstand the whiles of the Devil. Our decision making apart from God will ultimately end in tragedy.

1. Apart from a relationship with Christ, they have no resources for right living.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.   I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:4-5

Christ is the reservoir. Without a relationship with Jesus Christ one does not have the resources to live right. Just as the branch must be connected to the source of nutrients (the vine) to do its job, (produce fruit). An addict cannot live right apart from a relationship with Christ. An addict cannot depend on himself/herself to do the right thing. No program or rehabilitation center will ever be able make them free from their addiction. Satan is the source of all evil, and being the source of all evil oneself cannot defeat the god of this world. The pull is to strong, and the weight that it carries will buckle the addict to their knees.

2. Apart from maturing in Christ, they have no power for right living.

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Galatians 5:16-26

In order for an addict to live right they must live a Spirit filled life. The flesh cannot reign in a Spirit filled Christian. Whether it’s the Spirit or the flesh, the one you feed is the one that will reign in your heart. Steve Curington tells a story in his 10 Principles videos about an Indian with two dogs a black one and a white one. He would take them to dog fights and fight them against each other. The Indian always knew which dog would win and always walked away with the money. Then someone asked him how he always knew which dog would win. His answer was simple he said “me want white dog to win me feed white dog and me starve black dog and white dog always wins.’ “Me want black dog to win me feed black dog and me starve white dog and black dog wins. In order for one to live a spirit filled life one needs to apply the Scriptures to their daily life.

3. Apart from the Scriptures they have no schooling for right living.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17

The Word of God is what inspires, instructs, and enables man to live right. The Word of God is a mirror, it shows us our flaws, it refines us as a refiner’s fire refines gold. Without the Scriptures it is impossible to live right. But if one can get into the Word of God and apply it to their lives then they have the schooling for living right.

Go_Win_Baptize_Teach_Desktop_12I remember the first time I went out soul winning. I was a Southern Baptist attending Oak Street Baptist Church. I had gone through a witnessing class that the pastor taught on Tuesday Evenings. He was a very good teacher and very personable. He knew no stranger. In the class we would spend about thirty to forty five minutes going over the curriculum and the other time going out and using what we were taught.

I Learned to witness by example. I had memorized the verses at an earlier date, but didn’t know how to use them until I Went soul winning with my pastor at the time. I saw him witness countless times during those months we were in class. I remember him asking me if I was comfortable to witness by myself. I remember the nervousness that came over me. I found out the more I did it the more comfortable I became sharing God’s Word with others.

The first person I ever lead to Christ was my roommate’s sister. She had been attending our church services and a couple of Sunday school classes. I came home from work that particular day and my roommate wanted his sister to get saved. We went over to his parent’s house and witnessed to his sister. At the end I asked here if she would like to ask Christ into her heart. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I asked her brother if he would like to lead her in prayer and he declined, as he was not yet comfortable doing that yet. And so I lead her through what we call the sinners prayer/

After I had led her through the prayer I remember the excitement that came over me. I knew I would never be the same. The thing is I probably would have never lead someone to the Lord if it were not for me going out with my pastor. I needed the training and the experiencing it for myself. As I watched the Lord work several times in my pastor witnessing, God changed my life forever. Now my favorite thing to do is witness what Christ has done for me and the rest of the world. Because I went with my pastor soul winning God has allowed me to lead hundreds of others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

To Go, Or Not To Go

stairs and doorThere has been much debate on the subject of “Christian Psychiatry/Christian Psychology.”  I have done some extensive study on the subject.  I have concluded as of right now that going to a “Christian Therapist” can and may cause more harm than good for the believer.  Below you will see a few of the things I have discovered.  By the way Therapists are the first to admit that they are not the cure in dealing with personal problems.

Psychology is the science of the mind or of mental states and processes.  Dictionary.com

Psychiatry is the practice or science of diagnosing and treating mental disorders. Dictionary.com

From the definition above you can see there is no reference to the spirit. Psychiatry/Psychology is known for their humanistic practices.  “This being the case the average Christian who is practicing psychology or psychiatry must lean heavily on the humanistic science which he studied in the secular environment.” DR. Charles Solomon   The main problem with “Christian Psychiatry/Psychologist” that the fleshly tool he learned in school will usurped and replaced the therapy of the Holy Spirit.  God our creator knows more in His little finger about your psyche than any human can learn from their studies.

That is the main reason I believe that gong to a “Christian Psychiatrist/Psychologist is wrong for the believer.  We as believers have the ability to tap into the source of power “our God” to help us. The root of one’s problem is the flesh (old man) and may not be a mental or even chemical  imbalance. Note: I do however believe if one believes they are having problems that they go and see a physical doctor and get a physical, and have blood drawn. Just to make sure there is not a medical problem.  As you can see this is not an extensive study on the subject.

If you would like to discuss this further you may leave a comment with your email address and I’ll contact you so we may discuss this further.  Remember you have a pastor for a reason. I suggest before you make such an important decision you seek help from your spiritual authority.  He is ordained by God through the local church.  That is why he is there; to help you.
